About Stages Academy
A Different Kind of Preschool
There are a lot of preschool choices out there. We created Stages Academy because we wanted something different.
We wanted a performing arts preschool where academics and the arts are equally important. And that's what Stages Academy is.
At Stages, children get to spend their days learning, creating, moving, exploring, and discovering what they are truly capable of.
We believe children can be challenged academically without spending their entire day sitting at a desk. They can develop important skills while dancing, making art, playing music, acting out a story, asking questions, solving problems, and working with their friends.
And, just as importantly, they should have fun while they're doing it.

Almost 14 Years of Growing with Families
For almost 14 years, Stages Academy has been a place where children can learn and grow in an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a love of learning.
Over the years, we've had the privilege of watching hundreds of children walk through our doors as toddlers and preschoolers and leave ready for their next adventure. We've watched shy children find their voices, children discover talents they didn't know they had, and students become more confident in themselves and their abilities.
That's what makes this work so rewarding.
Academics and the Arts Belong Together
At Stages, the arts aren't an occasional special activity added to the preschool day. They are part of the everyday experience.
Stages students have daily opportunities to explore dance, music, art, and drama alongside reading, writing, math, science, and engineering, and other academic experiences.
We don't believe children have to choose between being creative and being academically prepared. We believe that to be truly successful learners, they need both.
The arts give children needed opportunities to express themselves, take risks, communicate, collaborate, and become comfortable being seen and heard. Academics give them the knowledge and skills they need to understand their world and continue learning.
Put the two together, and you get something pretty special.

Small by Design
We intentionally keep our classes smaller than Pennsylvania's maximum group sizes because we believe children do better when their teachers have the time to really know them.
Small classes mean teachers can give children individual attention, notice when someone needs a little extra help, encourage a child who is ready for a new challenge, and understand each child's personality, interests, and learning style.
It also means that every child gets a chance to participate.
We don't want the same few children answering every question, volunteering for every activity, or getting all the attention. We want every child to have a chance to be heard, to try, and to succeed.
More Than Getting Ready for Kindergarten
Of course, preparing children academically for kindergarten is important. But we believe school readiness is about more than knowing letters and numbers.
We want our students to learn how to think, solve problems, communicate, work with others, express their feelings, and keep trying when something doesn't come easily.
We want them to become confident enough to ask questions, curious enough to explore, and willing to try something new—even when they aren't sure they'll be good at it.
Most of all, we want them to develop a genuine love of learning.

What You See When You Walk Through Stages
One of our favorite things about Stages is that there isn't really a typical classroom scene.
You might see children working with a teacher on early literacy skills in one room, dancing in another, creating an art project, gathering for music, or acting out a story down the hall.
There is a lot going on.
But what matters most isn't simply how much children are doing. It's how engaged they are while they're doing it.
It's seeing a child proudly show a teacher what they've made. Watching someone who was hesitant to participate finally step into the middle of the group. Hearing a child explain how they solved a problem. Seeing the excitement when they realize, "I did it."
Those are the moments we love.
A Place to Learn, Create, Move, & Grow
That's what we're trying to create at Stages Academy.
A place where children have real relationships with their teachers.
A place where creativity and perseverance matter.
A place where children can move, make things, ask questions, solve problems, express themselves, and discover what they're capable of.
And a place where they can simply enjoy being a kid while they're doing it.
That's Stages.
